What is Anime Matsuri?

Anime Matsuri is an annual anime and Japanese pop culture convention hosted in Houston, Texas. It celebrates anime, music, art and more and features a variety of concerts and main events and a huge exhibitor area with over 300 artists and 200 exhibitors.

Can I host a panel at Anime Matsuri?

Tylically yes.

Are the concerts or Main Events extra cost?

Typically, no.

Most of the events at Anime Matsuri are included in the badge price. However, there are some events that cost extra. Those are clearly marked.

Is the convention family friendly?


Anime Matsuri si designed fortyhe entire family. However, there is adult-only content, clearly marked as ‘Strictly 18+’. Access to those are done by valid government issued ID’s.

Are kids allowed in as a discount?


Anime Matsuri has a Kids Badge at a discount for anyone 6-12.

Kid’s under 6 can go in for free.

Are there any good food options around the event?


Anime Matsuri offers a wide variety of food trucks located on Lamar St.

There are dozens of restaurants within walking distance of the convention center.

Do I require a sales permit to sell goods in the Artist Alley at the event?


By law, any individual selling items in the state of Texas must have a Texas Seller’s Permit. The permit is free and very easy to obtain. You may apply for a permit by mail or in person at one of the Board of Equalization field offices.

Anime Matsuri requires that all artists provide a seller’s permit number. Additionally, all artists must keep either a paper or electronic copy of each Texas Seller’s Permit at their table as according to state policy.
